Can I attend the course from another country?
Yes! The course is fully online with videos and learning materials accessible any time, so you can join from anywhere in the world and learn at your own pace.
How much time will this course take?
The course is designed to fit comfortably around different schedules. Most students will spend around 2 hours per week on lessons, plus any additional practice time they'd like. The course features 6 weekly lessons/modules, but we've built in 2 rest weeks (following the heavier modules) to create a gentle, manageable learning pace and give you time to catch up on practice. (I'd much rather you enjoy the process than feel rushed or overwhelmed!) I'll be providing guidance over this period, but you'll have plenty of flexibility to revisit lessons and complete the course in your own time.
What tools/supplies do I need?
You'll need a pointed nib, oblique pen holder, ink, good quality copy paper, and a pencil for warm-ups. I'll guide you through exactly what to use and how to prepare everything inside the course. Most of these tools can be easily purchased from your local pen or art store, or online through places like Amazon.
Will I need a printer for this course?
Yes, access to a printer is highly recommended. The complete set of worksheets and instructional materials will be available for download right at the start of the course. This allows you to conveniently print everything all at once so you are completely prepared for the weeks ahead.
I am new to the tools, do you teach how to use them?
The course covers everything from tools, workspace setup, and posture to a detailed study of the full alphabets, and linking of letters into words and sentences. Finally, you'll get to learn how you can develop your own style with the skills you've developed.
What type of script/style will you be teaching?
We use a classic style called Copperplate as our base. But don't let the name intimidate you! Think of it as the ultimate blueprint. By learning these simple, core strokes, you are unlocking the ability to write in almost any style you want. Whether your goal is to master modern flowy calligraphy, improve your everyday cursive, or start your own personalisation business, learning this foundation skill makes it all possible.
What is 'Limited Lifetime Access'?
Limited Lifetime Access means that once you enrol, you are welcome to rejoin the course an unlimited number of times for as long as the program remains open and actively running. Due to the structure of our learning platform, your access is initially granted in 6-month intervals. Once your 6 months are up, you simply need to send a quick request to rejoin, and we will happily renew your access at no extra charge! This gives you the ultimate flexibility to move at your own pace, practice as much as you need, and return to the videos and lessons whenever you need a refresher.
Why does the purchase say '6 months access'
Due to the structure of our learning platform, your access is initially granted in 6-month intervals. After the initial 6 months, you can request a self-paced retake at any time at no extra charge, so you can revisit the material whenever you need. It will just be in 6 months timeframes. Just send through an enquiry.
How will I receive 'Guided Support'?
Guided support means you'll be supported throughout the course as you learn. You'll be able to submit your homework for review, and I'll provide personalised feedback to help you improve. There will also be space to ask questions each week, along with a live demo and Q&A session after the course. It's designed to make sure you're not learning on your own, but feel supported every step of the way.
Spreading my love for calligraphy...
My primary focus is on Copperplate Script, Spencerian Script and Calligraphic Flourishing (the artistic embellishments). Over the years, I have taught workshops both locally in Australia and internationally. I have also developed learning materials that have been used by thousands of students worldwide.
Through my experience of teaching, I've developed methods that can help students with little to no artistic or handwriting experience, to upskilling those with existing calligraphy skills.
